Great Granby
The Great Granby is a wonderful loop in the Kootenay Mountains of BC created by Ali Becker and Mat Leblanc. Many thanks to them for their work! We rode the route in the opposite direction to how it is shown on bikepack.ca - in other words we rode it counter clockwise which enabled not only a nice flat start to the route but also finishing with a long downhill back into Castlegar. We were happy with our choice and I'll try to highlight why at the appropriate moments. We comple

Alberni Bam Bam
Yoel and I completed a slightly modified Alberni Bam Bam (as defined on bikepacking.com) loop over 7 days from July 7th to 13th 2026; many thanks again to Miles Arbor for setting this route. It was clear from speaking with various business owners and other bikepackers that this has become a very popular route and for good reason! The modification we made was to the first section from Nanaimo to the north end of Cowichan Lake. Instead of following the logging roads west of Nan

Sea to Tree Mini (Vancouver Island)
From June 30 to July 4th of 2025 I followed the Sea to Tree (mini) as defined by Miles Arbor on bikepacking.com . Many thanks to Miles for his work - I look forward to trying the full loop at some point in the future. Starting in Campbell River I spent 4 days on the Sea to Tree (mini) plus a day exploring the trails in Cumberland on my way home. My riding has been getting stronger and I felt physically great during this ride and am starting to realize that I can push my days

Kamloops Grasslands Loop
For this trip I followed the route called the BC Grasslands Circuit on bikepacking.com. Many thanks to Alex Cooper for his efforts. You can find the gpx file here. I rode this route over three days in early May (May 5,6,7) of 2025 as recommended by Alex and for me that was perfect. Due to all the climbing it would have be a very difficult 2 day ride. I recommend considering 4 days if you have any concern about your climbing fitness and that would have the added benefit of spe

Nootka Island July 2025
Nootka Island is located on the west coast of Vancouver Island accessible via float plane ( Air Nootka ) or the MV Uchuck out of Gold River or other private boat services. Nootka is not a provincial park, it is the land of the Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation; it is important to acknowledge these land rights and express gratitude for our ability to access this beautiful place. You can purchase a pass to hike the Nootka Island Trail here . The trail is well documented on AllT

Toronto to Quebec City...and back
In September of 2025, I embarked on a return cycling trip from Toronto to Quebec City, with scenic detours to La Mauricie National Park and the Le Petit Train du Nord route in the Laurentians. Over the course of this adventure, I traveled a total of 2,100 km, primarily along designated bike routes and dedicated bike paths that featured minimal elevation changes making this route a perfect option for anyone looking something long but relatively easy. I generally followed the G

Lake Cowichan and Saanich 2025
In April of 2025 I did my first bikepacking trip! That may not be quite true, I did some "touring" when I was in my late teens and 20s but that was so long ago I don't think it counts. I chose an easy one in an area that I am familiar with in order to avoid getting myself into trouble. I chose the Cowichan Valley 8 loop as defined on bikepacking.com and extended it to allow me to start at home in Burnaby and take in Saltspring Island on the way to Vancouver Island. I follow
